Yemeni Refugees Fleeing Violence Arrive in Djibouti

Escalating violence in Yemen has forced thousands to flee the country in search of safety. Many are crossing the Red Sea to Djibouti.

“Our teams on the ground are assisting tens thousands of people inside Yemen, despite the fighting. We are also providing the food assistance to people who fled the conflict to other places outside of the country, like here in Djibouti,” said WFP’s Communications Officer Challiss McDonough.

WFP is extremely concerned about the impact of the conflict on the people of Yemen, the poorest country in the Arab world. Weeks of violence have left many Yemenis hungry. WFP is doubling its efforts in order to respond to the crisis.
