Nigerians Flee Across Lake Chad To Escape Violence

Escalating violence by militants in Nigeria is causing thousands to flee into Niger, Cameroon and Chad, putting a further strain on some of the poorest nations in Africa. Many are embarking on a 10-hour journey crossing Lake Chad by canoe-like boats to reach safety in Chad. Exhausted, without possessions and hungry, they need help. But their host country, Chad, already has one of the highest rates of chronic malnutrition in the world. WFP continues to step up its operations in a bid to feed the thousands.
