Food Insecurity Extreme Levels in South Sudan

Food insecurity in South Sudan has reached the most extreme levels since independence in 2011.

Famine has eased after a significant scale up in the humanitarian response. However, the situation remains dire across the country and the approaching lean season threatens the food security of 7 million people.

As seasonal hunger peaks, WFP needs US$300 million to feed people and make sure that no child goes to sleep hungry.
