Freerice: Changing Lives, Teaching Students

Freerice may be just simple online game, but it is changing people’s lives all over the world. The grains earned through answering vocabulary questions go directly to those that need it most, like the victims of the earthquake in Haiti and those affected by the flooding in Pakistan.

As a teacher, you have the opportunity to bring this hunger-fighting tool into your classroom. Not only will you be helping to feed the world, but, you will be helping educate your students in a fun and engaging way.

Matthew Friedman, a third grade teacher from the South Bronx neighborhood of New York City, uses Freerice as a teaching tool in his classroom. His students play for 20 minutes each day and the results are being noticed. One parent even texted Mr. Friedman to express the impact that Freerice has had on their child’s life, “I would like to thank you for introducing Carlos to Freerice. I have tried many times to have him learn new words and spelling, and nothing worked. Yet he is so excited about helping to end world hunger that he even asked me last night to do vocabulary words with him. I sincerely appreciate your hard work and dedication”

At the World Food Programme we’d like to challenge you to bring Freerice into your classroom. Create a group, encourage your students join and track your class’s impact in the fight against hunger.

I have been looking for a way
