G8 Leaders? Meet the leaders of tomorrow...

Around the world, teams of young people are packing and heading to Rome, Italy to take part in this year's UNICEF J8 Summit.

A total of 32 young people from the G8 countries, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States, are heading to Rome for this year's J8 Summit. They will be joined by teams from  Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Mexico and South Africa.

The J8 Summit runs in parallel to the G8, and gives young people a chance to voice their views on issues which directly concern them. And the J8 delegates will get a chance to speak directly to the G8 leaders on Thursday 6th July, and present their findings.

The summit presents an amazing opportunity for Youth to speak directly to world leaders, in the hope that they will seriously consider the viewpoints of the next generation of workers, parents and voters.

Accountability is the key, as Japanese J8 delegate Yohei Oka said at the 2008 summit:  “We think it’s important that the G8 leaders follow up on the declaration and actually show us what they’ve done and what improvements they’ve made.”

World leaders of today - meet the future...
