The program of virtual conferences took place between April and December last year, and were a part of the technical assistance activities and strengthening of national capabilities which WFP provided the Nicaraguan Government through MINSA.
“Our goal is to assist MINSA in its efforts to reduce malnutrition and highlight the health of those most vulnerable. The Nutrition Team at MINSA carries out an important task, providing guidance on the best practices in order for people to live a healthy life and reduce malnutrition levels, particularly amongst women and children,” affirmed Helmut W. Rauch, WFP Country Director.
Sharers of knowledge
“We are sure that the participants will share their knowledge with their other colleagues,” said Dr. Enrique Beteta Acevedo, Secretary General of MINSA, after participating in a conference call on “Enteral and Parenteral Feeding”.
The conference calls were facilitated by a group of nutrition experts, from the WFP’s Regional Office for Latin America, located in Panama, the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology (INTA) from the University of Chile, and Panama’s Social Security Scheme, using WFP Nicaragua´s conference facility.
