TEGUCIGALPA. -Under this year's slogan "Now It's Your Turn. Let's Change Lives!", Hondurans toom to the streets and walked 2.5 km, starting at the national stadium and ending at the "Zero Hunger Plaza" in the Morazán Boulevard. The closing ceremony was followed by a series of Honduran cultural musical performances.
With the support of more than 45,000 participants and 50 private companies, the walk aimed to raise awareness among the general population with a message of hope and solidarity: "Hunger and malnutrition can be reduced with innovative activities that enable poor families to be involved in the sustainable development of their own environment."
At the head of the walk were the Vice-President of Honduras, María Antonieta de Bogran, the Mayor of Tegucigalpa, Ricardo Alvarez, the President of the National Congress, Lena Gutierrez, the Minister of the Institute of Forestry and Conservation, José Trinidad Suazo, the Minister of Social Development, Hilda Hernandez, the Minister of Planning, Julio Raudales, and WFP Representative in Honduras, Miguel Barreto.
