Fleeing Libyans Tell Tales of Hunger
A family escaping the conflict in Libya has described to WFP the growing problems that civilians inside the North African country face when trying to find food. “They just need the basic stuff – flour, water – because they don’t have anything,” said Mohammed, a student interviewed as he escaped by sea to Egypt.
MISRATA – In this new footage from aboard a WFP ship taking food and other aid to Misrata, a group of evacuees describe the situation they are leaving behind.
The people speaking in the footage were among seven Spanish and Libyan/British evacuees who were rescued from Misrata, by a WFP-chartered supply ship which delivered food to the Libyan port before going on to Alexandria.
The following clip shows the ship arriving in Misrata and unloading the food supplies.
