The Government of Guatemala, Canada, WFP and participants of the Purchase for Progress (P4P) initative launched the project known as ”Maíz chapín contra el hambre” (Guatemalan Maize against Hunger). Thanks to Canada's donation of $10 million, the project will help 3,300 smallholder farmers increase their productivity, provide nutritional support to 27,000 children and pregnant and nursing women, and assist with food some 9,000 families affected by severe weather.
