In 2012, WFP provided food assistance to 6.2 million people in Ethiopia. WFP Ethiopia reaches food-insecure people through the following programmes: Purchase for Progress, School Meals, MERET, Productive Safety Net, HIV and AIDS, Refugee, National Relief, and Targeted Supplementary Feeding. These programmes both respond to emergencies, and promote resilience in the face of climatic and natural shocks. Livelihood promotion projects and the use of cash and vouchers allow WFP Ethiopia to better empower vulnerable people, as these pictures illustrate.
