Valerie Amos Visits WFP's Sahel Crisis Response Activities in Senegal
At the end of May, Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos visited Senegal to see the response of WFP and other UN agencies to the country's food crisis, part of the larger Sahel crisis. Here, she stands with UNDP Country Director Bintou Djibo, WFP Senegal Deputy Director Wanja Kaaria and Aminata Guèye, a beneficiary representative.
The delegation visited the commune of Ndoulo, about 80 kilometres west of Dakar. Here, Abdou Cissé, President of Ndoulo commune and a representative of partner NGO Caritas Thies with the pulses given by WFP.
