WFP is launching an emergency operation following the outbreak of conflict in northern Iraq, where hundreds of thousands of people have fled from their homes in Mosul. WFP has deployed emergency and logistics staff to Erbil in the Kurdistan region and is assessing food needs on the ground. The emergency operation aims to provide food assistance to 42,000 of the most vulnerable displaced people at a cost of $1.5 million.
