Food Distribution To Displaced Bedouins In The West Bank
In September 2013, all existing structures in the village of Khirbet Makhool were demolished and all of its 48 residents displaced. The village is located in Area C in the West Bank where restrictions on movement and construction make life increasingly difficult and unsustainable. The World Food Programme (WFP) provided emergency food assistance to the villagers, ensuring access to food items that cover the majority of daily caloric requirements. Bedouins and herders in the West Bank are amongst the poorest Palestinians. Every month, WFP distributes emergency food rations to 30,000 Bedouins and herders, in cooperation with the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
