Indonesia: Strengthening Community Resilience To Climate Change In Lombok

Farmer In Montong Sapah

Masyur, 43, just like the other farmers in his village, is pleased with the water catchment project.

The Water Catchment Project

The water catchment, built by the villagers of Montong Sapah through WFP's FFA programme, helps farmers irrigate their fields.

Montong Sapah is a poor village located in Praya Barat Daya sub district, Central Lombok district, NTB. One of the biggest and challenging problems in this village is water availability. WFP along with local NGO called FPMP started FFA (Food For Assets) programme in March 2012. This water catchment project involved 1,168 people, representing 1,168 families in Montong Sapah village.
