The Future Of School Feeding

In Bangladesh, a school meals pilot programme has been launched that benefits not only schoolchildren but entire communities. Students receive a warm nutritious lunch every day they attend class, their parents have one less meal to worry about and are thereby are encouraged to send their kids to school, and community members earn an income by selling fresh produce to schools. The Government of Bangladesh developed the strategy and action plan for this pilot drawing upon the knowledge and experience shared during a study trip to the WFP Centre of Excellence Against Hunger in Brazil.
