Back To School After Hurricane Sandy
Children are back into school at Sibert, in the outskirts of Port au Prince, after Sandy flooded the building on 24 October. “The water was higher than my waist,” explained the school director, Ms Nerlande showing the damage on the school walls. “We lost our vegetable garden and had to repair the court, but we are back now,” she continued. The Sibert school has almost 700 pupils who benefit from school meals every day, and receive in addition two bottles of locally produced milk as a mid-morning snack.
