Fuel Efficient Stoves Help Stop Soil Erosion In Lesotho
Lesotho loses 1 percent of its land to soil erosion each year. The widespread collection of firewood is part of the problem. That's why WFP is working with the Lesotho Government to introduce fuel-efficient stoves to schools. These use a fraction of the wood burned by traditional stoves. The stoves are used in many of the schools which cook WFP food daily in order to give students a hot meal.
