GiveAsia.org Joins WFP In The Fight Against Hunger
BANGKOK/SINGAPORE – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and online social movement GiveAsia.org are launching a new partnership to raise funds for the global fight against hunger. The first campaign under the partnership will benefit WFP’s emergency operation to meet the needs of people affected by conflict in Syria.
GiveAsia.org offers a not-for-profit service to receive individual charitable donations online. People can support organisations such as WFP through personalised donation drives targeting their social networks, start awareness campaigns to build support for specific causes and set up creative fundraising events.
“We look forward to tapping into GiveAsia.org’s network of individuals who are excited about finding creative ways to support the fight against hunger,” said Jay Aldous, WFP Director of Private Sector Partnerships. “It’s particularly fitting that our first campaign together will support WFP’s emergency operation in Syria. The needs of Syrians continue to grow, and every contribution makes a difference to the lives of those affected by conflict.”
GiveAsia.org was founded to inspire people to do good by offering a better giving experience and by developing a social movement of like-minded people.
“We are honoured and excited to be working with WFP, and especially to be providing a channel for people across our region to assist victims of conflict in Syria,” said Pong Yu Ming, a GiveAsia.org co-founder.
