The World Food Programme (WFP) supports food aid operations to the most vulnerable while establishing resilience to a country's overall food security. WFP's operations encompass:
- development operations designed to help the hungry help themselves;
- emergency operations that provide food for the improvement of nutrition and the prevention of malnutrition;
- relief and recovery operations that assist in stabilising food security and the rebuilding after emergencies; and
- special operations that create specific logistics and infrastructure work to speed-up the movement of food aid.
