The agreement signed January 14, 2015 between the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Social Fund Project Bayóvar Integral (FOSPIBAY) aims to improve the capacities of the most vulnerable people and their institutions to promote food and nutrition security in the Sechura province. The largest of 8 provinces within the Pirua region. Preventing anemia and chronic child malnutrition, with emphasis on the first thousand days of life are the focus of this newly launched project.

The Government of Peru, through the Ministry of Disaster Risk Management of the Council of Ministers Presidency and representatives from the National Center for Risk Prevention and Disaster Risk Reduction (CENEPRED); from the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI) and the National Center for Strategic Planning (CEPLAN), introduced on September 18th, 2014 the National Plan for Disaster Risk Management – PLANAGERD 2014-2021, which aims to reduce the vulnerability of the population and their livelihood against risk of disasters.

LIMA- The World Food Programme (WFP) in Peru recently carried out an assessment mission of the National Civil Defense Institute’s (INDECI) telecommunications emergency infrastructure, with the support of the Fast Information Technology and Telecommunications Emergency and Support Team (FITTEST), based in Dubai. This joint assessment was executed between the 11th and 31st of May 2014 by a team including Oscar Caleman and Roberto Salazar of FITTEST.

PANAMA CITY –The World Food Programme (WFP) has appointed Miguel Barreto, a Peruvian national, as its new Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. His duty will be to oversee WFP operations across the region.

On September 3, 2013, WFP participated in an event organized by PROMPERU. The First Lady of the Nation and FAO's Special Ambassador, Nadine Heredia, introduced a quinua recipe book in the House of Peruvian Gastronomy. Her mission and the mission of the participants are to promote consumption, improve food security, and reduce malnutrition in Peruvian families.
