ISLAMABAD: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has begun projects to improve livelihoods and reduce communities’ susceptibility to disasters in Tharparkar, Sanghar and Mirpurkhas districts of Sindh, thanks to a grant of US$2.78 million from the government of Australia. Around 13,200 families will receive cash payments for participation in disaster risk reduction activities.

ISLAMABAD: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has led a mission of international humanitarian and development partners to Jalozai camp and Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to witness food distributions and nutrition support. Among the participants were representatives from the governments of Australia, France and Norway.

ISLAMABAD – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is rapidly scaling up food distributions aiming to reach approximately half a million recently displaced people from North Waziristan. Since the start of food distributions on Sunday, 22 June, WFP has provided 15-day food rations more than 4,600 families in Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts.

QUETTA, PAKISTAN – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today handed over management of a Humanitarian Response Facility (HRF) to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan in Chashma Achozai, Quetta district. This is the second WFP-built facility to be handed over to the government; the first was in Muzaffargarh district of Punjab province in February this year.

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has announced the release of 26,000 metric tons of wheat for distribution in Pakistan by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). The contribution, valued at US$10 million, comes at a critical time when funding shortages are threatening WFP’s ability to provide emergency food assistance to almost 1 million people displaced by violence in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

Islamabad – The Pakistan Economic Coordination Committee has announced the release of 75,000 metric tons of wheat to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). This completes the entire donation of 150,000 metric tons pledged by the Government of Pakistan for 2013. WFP recently concluded delivery of the first half released earlier this year in support of families affected by law enforcement operations in the country’s north-west.
