Children at the district hospital in Chokwe pose after a meal of fortified corn-soya porridge provided by WFP.  Other malnourished patients will also receive a voucher for additional nutritious foods.

The Journey Of A Voucher In Mozambique

The World Food Programme's (WFP) golden ticket— a voucher issued in partnership with the Mozambican government— brought new business to local shopkeepers and provided human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) and tuberculosis (TB) patients with the ability to access food when they most needed it.

Despite having made some impressive strides forward, Mozambique faces serious challenges. Much of its rural population is impoverished and food-insecure. The country is prone to a wide range of natural hazards which regularly cause major damage and disrupt economic growth.

Flood Response 2015

WFP is distributing food to displaced people in the areas worst-hit by floods and is working with the Government of Mozambique to provide telecommunications and logistics support where it is most needed. To step up its assistance to those displaced by floods, WFP urgently needs funding.
