The independent operation evaluation of Lesotho Country Programme (CP 200369) 2013-2017 covered the three components namely Enhancing Resilience and Responsiveness through Disaster Risk Reduction; Support for Pre-School Education; and Support for Nutrition and HIV.

It was intended for both accountability and learning and focuses on assessing: i) the appropriateness and coherence of the operation; ii) its results; and iii) the factors explaining the results.

The evaluation, makes a number of operational and strategic recommendations which will inform decision making for the remaining period of the CP, as well as for the future. It was managed and conducted by a consultancy firm, with fieldwork taking place in May 2015.

The main objective of the WFP School Meals Programme is to provide an incentive to encourage children from economically disadvantaged households of Lesotho to attend school, as well as enhance regular attendance and retention.
