Tunisia - Food Security Rapid Assessment, April 2011
Following the recent political changes in the country, FAO and WFP conducted this rapid assessment from 24 March to 7 April 2011 to assess food availability, access and utilization, as well as existing safety nets in Tunisia.
Although the overall food security situation in the country doesn’t seem to be problematic, several vulnerabilities exist. The western part of the country is the most vulnerable, showing pockets of acute poverty and has to be considered as a priority for food assistance. Also, the south-eastern areas are directly impacted by the Libya crisis in terms of refugee influx and disruption of cross-border trade.
