R4 Rural Resilience Initiative: Quarterly report | January - March 2015

The R4 Rural Resilience Initiative (R4) is a strategic partnership between Oxfam America (OA) and the UN World Food Programme (WFP). R4 was initiated in 2011 to respond to the challenges faced by food-insecure communities enduring increasingly frequent and intense climate disasters and other shocks. This report outlines the key accomplishments during the January to March 2015 quarter. During this quarter, a total $38,116 in payouts were distributed in Senegal and Ethiopia, triggered by the localized dry conditions experienced by farmers. The initiative also continued to make progress in putting in place the mechanisms, resources and partnerships needed for the operational launch of the programme in Southern Africa during the 2015 agricultural season.
