When WFP Teams Up With Zynga, Fighting Hunger on ChefVille Brings All Of Us To The Table
Mix together a new online game, the world’s largest humanitarian organization, and a community helping provide school meals to hungry kids around the world and what do you get? A recipe for a fun way to get involved in the fight against hunger that calls for one missing ingredient: your creativity.
Step one: Get in the game
WFP and the online game company Zynga are teaming up to feed kids – and you’re the one cooking. If you’re a player on ChefVille, you can use your passion for food to help WFP make a difference right now. As you try out recipes and design your dream kitchen, you’ll earn more than in-game rewards. When the ChefVille community serves up its one billionth dish, Zynga will make a $50,000 donation to WFP’s school meals programme.
Step two: Join the community
You know that good food is as much about the community behind it as what’s on the plate. If you’re playing on ChefVille, you can help WFP reach its goal faster – and join a global community of cooks that knows fighting hunger goes hand in hand with a passion for food. If we all do a little bit, we can make sure everyone’s plate is full.
Step 3: Do your part to brighten a future
This partnership means you can help WFP provide meals to hungry kids around the world while having fun online. As you head back to school this fall, you know that getting the right combination of nutrients and vitamins at lunch helps you succeed. A nutritious meal at school helps students reach their full potential. That’s why the WFP school meals programme provides a daily meal to nearly 26 million kids in 60 countries. Calling for a mix of rice and beans, a WFP school meal is one of our favourite recipes because it’s really a recipe for a brighter future. Not only does it get many kids in the developing world to school; it also gives them the energy to learn once they’re in the classroom
Step 4: Share this recipe with your friends and then get in the kitchen!
The campaign began August 31st and continues until the ChefVille community serves its one billionth dish, so it’s time to start cooking. Together, we can dish up a brighter future for students like you.
Step 5: Stay tuned for future recipes on how to get involved
If you like ChefVille and other online games, keep your eye out for more opportunities this fall to have fun while fighting hunger.
