This year’s EDDs will spotlight resilience, food security and nutrition. The discussions are well-timed, following several summits and initiatives on related issues: the G8’s New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition, the Global Hunger event in UK, the Ensuring Resilient Livelihoods event during the UN General Assembly, AGIR, SHARE.

WFP and partners will participate in two main high-level panels where nutrition and safety nets will be examined as tools to ensure resilience and to end the cycle of poverty and hunger. You can watch the debates live on this page (see video window below).

Building resilience is about enhancing and strengthening the capacities, livelihoods and opportunities of the most vulnerable and food-insecure people. The World Food Programme (WFP) has valuable experience in this area. We’re constantly working to ensure that vulnerable populations can develop the tools they need to protect themselves from poverty and hunger.

Join us, on 16 and 17 October, and follow the discussion!
